PREAMBLE

Established in 1991, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is committed to providing quality education, fostering innovation, and advancing research. With experienced and dedicated faculty, staff, well-equipped laboratories, and an industry-oriented curriculum, the Department provides practical training, internship opportunities, and professional skill development. Two faculty members of the Department have been recognized among the world’s top 2% of scientists in the annual rankings compiled jointly by Stanford University and Elsevier for the period from 2020 to 2026.

Research and innovation are among the Department’s key priorities. Faculty members actively publish research papers in reputed national and international journals and conference proceedings, pursue and secure patents, and undertake sponsored research projects funded by agencies such as FIST, ANRF, DST-SERB, and MeitY.

The Department maintains strong collaborations with industries, academic institutions, and research organizations through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), workshops, seminars, short-term training programmes, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), and joint research initiatives. Its graduates have established successful careers in government organizations, the corporate sector, research institutions, and higher education in India and abroad.

Through its commitment to technical excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship, and professional ethics, the Department strives to nurture skilled engineers and researchers equipped to contribute to technological advancement and national development.

BRIEF HISTORY

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in 1991 with the introduction of a two-year Diploma programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering. In 1993, two certificate programmes were introduced: a two-year Certificate in Servicing and Maintenance of Electronic Equipment (CSME) and a two-year Certificate in Maintenance of Television (CTV). The three-year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering was also launched in 1993.

The Department further expanded its academic offerings by introducing the M.Tech. programme in 2009 and the four-year B.E. programme in 2014. In 2014, the certificate and diploma programmes were integrated into a three-year Integrated Certificate and Diploma (ICD) programme.

Currently, the Department offers Integrated Certificate and Diploma (ICD) programmes in CSME and CTC, an undergraduate B.E. programme, and postgraduate M.Tech. programmes in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and VLSI, Ph.D. programmes, and Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) opportunities.
